About Aissa

Bodywork, Reiki, and inner work shaped by my own experience.

I've dealt with terrible period pain since I was a kid. In my 20s, I was diagnosed with a fibroid, and after that, I spent years trying to manage it myself. I found a Traditional Chinese Medicine tincture that changed the quality of my blood, cut down on the clots, and eased the pain. I paired it with acupuncture, and for a while, everything helped. So I tried to ignore it, telling myself it was getting better on its own.

Years later, once I was with my now-husband, I saw a new OBGYN and finally talked seriously about the fibroid. She gave me two options: surgery, or a procedure that would shrink it. Doing nothing at all would affect my ability to get pregnant. That conversation broke something open in me. I told myself I'd be able to get pregnant whenever I wanted, but underneath that, I was scared.

I eventually made the decision to move forward with surgery, and what followed was months of appointments, imaging, and waiting. About a month before the surgery, I learned just how big the fibroid actually was, the size of a grapefruit, grown over ten years without me fully realizing it. Looking back, I don't think I would have been able to get pregnant without removing it.

During that same stretch of years, I became a massage therapist. Then, during COVID, I started pursuing Reiki. The week before my surgery, I completed my Reiki Master certification, a training where I was able to focus on exactly the fear I'd been carrying around this surgery, and it brought a clarity and calm I hadn't expected. I walked into the operating room feeling that same calm, and by the time I woke up, my surgeon told my family the fibroid had gone into necrosis. It had died off on its own, that same week, before it was even removed.

That experience left me with a pull toward something deeper than physical care alone. I already knew how to help people in the physical space, and I was learning how to help in the energetic space, but I wanted to help create real, lasting change, not just short-term relief. That's what led me to NLP. Through that work, I faced a lot of anger and sadness I'd been carrying for years, and I learned how to actually release it instead of just managing around it. Shortly after, I got pregnant.

So many women go through this alone, unheard by doctors, unsure who to talk to, afraid to even bring it up. I can't offer medical advice, but I can offer an ear, a shoulder, and someone who won't look away from what you're carrying. I talk openly about my own fibroid and surgery because I don't think this should be something we whisper about. The more we talk about it, the less alone any of us have to feel.

I don't separate the physical from the emotional, because I've lived what happens when you try to. Managing the pain without understanding what's underneath it only gets you so far. My work now brings together bodywork, energy work, and deep inner work, not as three separate services, but as one way of helping you actually understand your body instead of just coping with it.

I'm not offering you something I read about in a textbook. I'm offering you what worked for me.
